Frequently Asked Questions

1. HOW DO I DETERMINE MY ELIGIBILITY FOR MEMBERSHIP?

NPS Membership is available to individuals who meet all of the following criteria:
•    Applicant must be 18 years of age or older at the time of enrollment.
•    Applicant must be a local citizen or residing in Malaysia with proof of address.

Eligibility for the Regular category is defined as:
•    Applicant must be a professional photographer or videographer,
•    Applicant must own no less than one (1) unit of either the following: Z9, Z8, Z7II, Z6III, Z6II, Z7, Z6, Z5, Zf, D6, Df, D850, D780, D750 or D500
•    Applicant must own a minimum of three (3) NIKKOR lenses
•    Applicant must provide verification of the above requirements and any additional supporting documents upon request by Nikon Malaysia (managed by Futuomic Photo AV Sdn. Bhd.).

Eligibility for the Plus category is defined as:
•    Applicant must be a professional photographer or videographer
•    Applicant must own no less than two (2) units of the following models: Z9, Z8, Z7II, Z6III, Z6II, Z7, Z6, Z5, Zf, D6, D850 or D780
•    Applicant must own a minimum of three (3) NIKKOR lenses
•    Applicant must provide verification of the above requirements and any additional supporting documents upon request by Nikon Malaysia (managed by Futuomic Photo AV Sdn. Bhd.).

Freelancers are considered on a case-by-case basis. The applicant has to meet the following:
•    Equipment owned must qualify for either the Regular or Plus category’s equipment requirement
•    Be able to produce photography tear sheets or supporting materials of commissioned works/assignments OR
•    Be able to produce a minimum of 5 official photographer media passes in the past 1 year from the date of application.

2. HOW DO I QUALIFY AS A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER/VIDEOGRAPHER RECOGNIZED BY NPS?

The applicant must be a professional photographer/videographer, who is defined as a full-time, self-employed individual or an employee of a professional imaging business who plays a direct role in creating moving or still images for third parties on a professional basis. 

3. HOW DO I APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP?

You may register directly via the NPS registration form (https://nps.nikon.com.my/registration) and provide the necessary information required. You will need to have a JPEG passport photo (800 x 1200 pixels) of yourself and a list of your entire camera and lens serial numbers for registration.

4. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO PROCESS THE MEMBERSHIP?

Typically, 10 working days after your details have been verified and approved, you will receive an email with access to the Membership eCard. We seek your understanding that due to the high volume of applications we receive, applicants who do not meet the requirements or do not submit ALL of the required documents may not have their applications processed. Nikon may not notify you in such a situation. Applicants are approved at Nikon's sole discretion, and we reserve the right to reject any application without providing any reason whatsoever.

5. WHAT IS THE MEMBERSHIP DURATION FOR EACH SUCCESSFUL APPLICATION?

You will be notified via email of the outcome of your application. Upon each successful application or renewal, the membership term will be valid for 2 years from the date Nikon approves it.

6. HOW DO I RENEW MY NPS MEMBERSHIP?

You will receive an automatic email notification 30 days before your membership expiry with instructions on the renewal process.

7. WHICH OTHER COUNTRIES HAVE THE NPS PROGRAM?

Membership benefits are not transferable, and services may vary from country to country. Please contact your local NPS office should you need special assistance overseas.

8. IS A SERVICE BACKUP LOAN AVAILABLE FOR ALL EQUIPMENT THAT I SEND IN FOR REPAIR?

Back-up loan equipment will be subjected to a first come, first serve basis and depending on stock availability. A backup loan is not valid for all products. Kindly contact us to check before the service visit.

9. WHAT IS THE LOAN DURATION FOR EACH SERVICE BACKUP LOAN?

This depends on the estimated repair duration advised by the Nikon service centre. If your equipment is still under repair, we would like you to keep the equipment until your repairs are completed and returned to you. It is important to note that any delay in the return of our loan equipment will affect the next member who may need loan service. In such cases, if necessary, the member may be barred from the next backup loan service.

10. WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE COMPLIMENTARY CHECK AND CLEAN SERVICE?

Complimentary service covers basic inspection and cleaning of NIKKOR lens exterior and Nikon DSLR or Mirrorless camera image sensor only. Member agrees and acknowledges that any cleaning or repairs carried out to any optical elements (e.g. lenses, filters, image sensors, etc.) are at your risk. Removal of internal dust or debris, AF adjustments, and equipment calibration are not included, and charges may apply for these services.
Please note that equipment must be registered in your NPS profile in order to enjoy the service. Any unused sessions will be forfeited and cannot be carried forward.
